The medic is not always the first responder.
Neither is the veterinarian.
You are — take action for the animal beside you.
In military and first responder communities, Buddy Aid is the immediate, lifesaving care provided by a partner first responder when professional medical help is not yet available.
Buddy Aid doesn't replace professional care.
It identifies injuries, prevents further injury, prioritizes casualties, and treats life-threatening conditions before professional medical treatment can be administered.
The primary objectives of physical buddy-aid are to:
-
Save life and prevent further injury
-
Protect the injured from further harm
-
Provide immediate first aid to stabilize the injury condition
-
Safely evacuate the injured partner to a medical treatment facility, if necessary
Just as physical Buddy Aid teaches non-medical personnel to act before the medic arrives, Animal Psychological Buddy-Aid teaches non-veterinary personnel to act before the veterinarian arrives.
You are the first line of response for the animal beside you.
The actions you take for animal safety matter.

For service and therapy animal handlers - your animal is not just beside you, they are your buddy. Your life aid. Your partner.
